Ministry-Led Festival Brings 252 Events to Adana

Adana is scheduled to host 252 events at 23 venues from Nov. 7 through Nov. 15, with the Culture and Tourism Ministry organizing the final stop of this year’s Türkiye Culture Route Festival. The city will host the festival for the third time. Its program includes concerts, exhibitions, talks, workshops, a photo marathon and gastronomy events.

The ministry sets the festival’s frame; Adana Governor Mustafa Yavuz delivered the official account of preparations to state-run Anadolu Agency. Yavuz said preparations were complete and described the city as accustomed to major cultural events. The announced program spans parks, museums, theaters and a historic library, while the governor’s remarks emphasized the scale of the venues and the festival’s peaceful atmosphere.

An official program across the city

Merkez Park will host concerts by Ahmet Şafak, Sefo, Serkan Kaya, Simge, Ebru Yaşar, Demet Akalın and Murat Boz. On Nov. 10, the Çukurova State Symphony Orchestra is scheduled to perform “Songs and Arias Loved by Atatürk” at the park, marking the anniversary of the death of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

The Adana Museum Complex will host several exhibitions. “Hane” combines calligraphy, illumination, ceramic calligraphy and digital artworks. “The Sacred Relics of the Ottoman Empire” brings selected works from the collections of the Istanbul Museum of Tombs, the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts and the Istanbul Archaeological Museums. Another exhibition, “Sunar Postcard Collection: Traces of Adana’s Industry Emerging from the Attic,” will be displayed in the foyer of the Agriculture Museum at the complex.

The festival will also promote Adana’s local cuisine, including specialties with registered status. Merkez Park, which previously hosted the city’s Taste Festival, is among the major venues. The program also uses theaters and the city’s historic library, according to Yavuz.

The governor’s measure of success

“We have now reached the final event of the year with the Culture Route Festival. We have completed all preparations to ensure it will be a successful festival held in a peaceful atmosphere,” Yavuz told Anadolu Agency. His statement presents success and public calm as the official benchmarks for the event. The article does not identify who set those benchmarks or describe how organizers will assess them.

Yavuz said Adana had held numerous festivals since March, naming the Theater Festival, the Orange Blossom Carnival, the Film Festival and the Taste Festival. He also said the Adana Museum Complex was the largest in Türkiye and ranked fifth in the world. Those are the governor’s descriptions, reported by state-run Anadolu Agency.

The announced festival is a ministry-organized cultural program, with the governor speaking for the local administration and state-run media carrying his account. The source details performances, exhibitions, venues and official preparations; it does not describe independent organizers, community-led events, aid groups or grassroots decision-making. Its picture of culture is therefore the one supplied by the institutions presenting the festival: a schedule of 252 events, spread across 23 venues, with the authorities’ assurances of preparation and peace.
