Workday AI Targets Corporate Costs and Compliance

European employers are configuring Workday to meet payroll rules, employment practices and works council requirements as they expand the platform, according to a report Information Services Group (ISG) published Oct. 27. The 2026 ISG Provider Lens® Workday Ecosystem report for Europe describes companies seeking consistent processes across countries while still accommodating local obligations. The Brussels directive cited in the report is the EU Pay Transparency Directive, which is driving demand for tools employers can use to identify, explain and address pay gaps.

The report frames these demands as a market for service providers. Businesses want regional regulatory knowledge alongside Workday expertise, and providers are developing reusable applications to meet local requirements without extensive custom development. The account focuses on what enterprises need to configure, automate and measure.

Compliance as a service

ISG says European organizations increasingly seek advisory expertise, industry knowledge and regional experience from Workday providers as they pursue broader transformation goals. A successful installation alone doesn't win the pitch. “Enterprises increasingly judge providers on their ability to recommend meaningful improvements and show measurable results,” said Stacey Cadigan, partner, ISG Human Capital Management and Enterprise Transformation.

The report also describes a practical approach to AI. Companies are looking for repetitive tasks and inefficient processes where automation can reduce manual effort and improve productivity. They’re exploring ways to simplify employee interactions and support better decisions. As new AI features arrive, businesses must decide which capabilities to prioritize and how to measure their effectiveness. Clear objectives, ISG says, are becoming essential to those investments.

Gaurang Pagdi, lead author of the report, said, “AI is changing not only what organizations can accomplish with Workday, but also how services are delivered.” He added that automation can reduce implementation effort, meeting customer expectations for faster delivery, lower costs and consistent quality. The report describes greater use of preconfigured environments and specialist providers expanding their services.

From HR systems to finance

Workday Financial Management is attracting interest across Europe, taking the platform beyond its established human capital management applications. Organizations are seeking closer links between workforce decisions and financial planning to improve business performance. Demand is particularly evident in the public sector, higher education and services-based industries.

As HR and finance priorities converge, companies increasingly expect providers to pair technical Workday skills with financial transformation expertise, operating model experience and industry knowledge. That’s the market ISG maps: a platform investment judged by how it serves enterprise operations and delivers measurable results.

A market measured by providers

The report evaluates 22 providers in four quadrants: Transformation Services, Deployment and Integration Services, Performance and Optimization Services, and Innovation on Workday. Accenture, Cognizant, Deloitte, Kainos, PwC and Strada are named Leaders in all four. HR Path and KPMG are Leaders in three quadrants each; Invisors, Mercer and TCS are Leaders in one each. Invisors is also named a Rising Star in two quadrants, while CloudRock is named a Rising Star in one.

ISG names Hexaware the global ISG CX Star Performer for 2026 among Workday ecosystem service providers. The company earned the highest customer satisfaction scores in ISG's Voice of the Customer survey, part of the ISG Star of Excellence™ program. ISG calls that program the premier quality recognition for the technology and business services industry.

ISG describes itself as a global AI-centered technology research and advisory firm and says it serves more than 900 clients, including 75 of the world's top 100 enterprises. Founded in 2006, it cites proprietary market data, provider ecosystem knowledge and the expertise of 1,500 professionals worldwide as resources for helping clients maximize technology investments. Customized versions of the report are available from Deloitte and PwC; subscribers can access the Europe report, or purchase it once.
