Gerdau Profit Jumps as Shareholder Payouts Take Focus

Gerdau reported adjusted net income of R$1.52 billion for the third quarter of 2026, up 39.7%, while its board declared an advance on the company’s minimum dividend. The steelmaker’s earnings and shareholder payments are clear in the available figures; the breakdown of steel volumes, debt and regional results was not confirmed against the company document at publication.

Profit at the Top

The company reported its results Monday, October 26, after the New York market close. Net sales rose 3.9% to R$18.69 billion, and adjusted EBITDA—a measure of operating profit before interest, tax and depreciation—reached nearly R$3.77 billion, roughly 20% of sales. Gerdau had reported adjusted EBITDA of R$3.4 billion in the second quarter.

Reported net income was R$1.56 billion, up 43.4% from R$1.09 billion a year earlier, according to unaudited statements filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Adjusted net income excludes one-off items. The adjusted result’s approximate US-dollar equivalent, US$282 million, uses an exchange rate of R$5.39 per dollar, the October 26 close reported by RT market data.

Gerdau is a Brazilian steelmaker whose shares trade in Brazil and whose American depositary receipts trade on the New York Stock Exchange under GGB. Its subsidiaries operate through Brazil Business, North America Business and South America Business segments. The company produces rebars, bars, wires, thick plates, hot rolled coils, billets, blooms, plates, wire rods and structural profiles, as well as special steel products for agricultural uses. Steel tracks building and factory demand in Brazil.

Shareholders Get a Schedule

The board declared an advance on the 2026 minimum dividend of R$0.34 per Gerdau share and R$0.16 per Metalúrgica Gerdau share. Metalúrgica Gerdau is the holding company that controls Gerdau. The stated approximate dollar amounts are US$0.06 and US$0.03 per share, respectively, but the notice gives the dividend in reais, so the dollar value depends on the exchange rate on the payment date.

Gerdau shareholders of record on Tuesday, November 10, are due to receive payment Tuesday, December 15. Gerdau shares trade without the right to the dividend from Wednesday, November 11. U.S. ADR holders have a record date of Thursday, November 12, and a payment date of Tuesday, December 22. These dates set out the mechanics of who qualifies for the payout; the release does not provide a breakdown of how the company’s earnings are distributed beyond the dividend information.

What the Figures Don’t Show

Gerdau’s ADR ended Monday at US$4.75, down 6.9% that day, before the results were released. The company scheduled a videoconference for noon in Brazil and 11 a.m. New York time on Tuesday, October 27. Whether investors would treat the profit increase as lasting remained unclear.

The full earnings release’s steel volumes, North America and Brazil breakdown, debt and outlook had not been confirmed against the company document at publication, so those figures were not reported. The available results therefore describe profit, sales, operating earnings and the dividend schedule, but leave those other measures unanswered. The report identified Gerdau’s filings with the SEC, Gerdau investor relations and RT market data as sources.
