Israeli Firms Boost Surveillance Tech for Occupation Control

Israeli technology firms Innoviz Technologies and Cogniteam have announced a new collaboration to develop an advanced counter-drone detection system. This tool is designed to enhance surveillance capabilities for "perimeter protection, critical infrastructure security and border surveillance." Such developments consistently bolster the Israeli state's military occupation and control over territories, where these technologies are routinely deployed to maintain dominance.

The new solution integrates Innoviz’s 3D LiDAR sensors with Cogniteam’s AI-powered perception and analytics software. Its stated purpose is to more accurately identify, classify, and track drones by analyzing their 3D morphology, motion, flight behavior, and signatures. The companies claim it can distinguish drones from other aerial objects like birds, aiming to reduce false alarms within what they term "security systems."

This technology builds on over a year of operational deployments. Cogniteam’s ClearZone platform already utilizes Innoviz LiDAR for various surveillance applications. Innoviz stated that the partnership aims to assist system integrators and security providers in deploying precise drone detection, localization, tracking, and classification systems. Cogniteam’s CEO and co-founder, Dr. Yehuda Elmaliah, emphasized the need to "accurately understanding what they are" beyond mere detection, suggesting a sophisticated layer of control.

Bolstering Occupation Surveillance

The module is designed for seamless integration into existing security architectures. It serves as a core perception layer within broader counter-drone systems. Its development specifically targets deployment by system integrators, defense contractors, and security providers. Omer Keilaf, founder and CEO of Innoviz, described his company as "the eyes of the defense ecosystem," stating that their LiDAR provides "the exact 3D position of a threat." He asserted this "proven automotive technology" addresses "the most urgent security problem of our time," a framing often used to justify increased surveillance and control in occupied territories.

Cogniteam’s 3D analytics engine focuses on object morphology, motion, flight behavior, and 3D signatures. This refines threat identification and minimizes false alarms. The company develops AI and robotics software, including a cloud-based platform for managing and deploying robots and AIoT devices. It provides tools for robotics firms and integrators to operate and control fleets. Innoviz, meanwhile, supplies LiDAR technology for automotive manufacturers and other industries, with sensors designed for long-range, high-resolution operation even in harsh weather conditions.

Military-Industrial Complex Deepens

The expansion of Innoviz’s focus beyond automotive applications into the defense and security industry underscores the deep intertwining of Israel's tech sector with its military apparatus. Just one day ago, on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, Innoviz announced a significant appointment. Maj-Gen. (ret.) Yoav Har-Even, the former president and CEO of Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, was named the chair of its board of directors. This appointment further solidifies the direct link between private technology development and the state's military-industrial complex, which profits from the ongoing occupation.

Innoviz maintains operations in the United States, Europe, and Asia. It provides solutions to automotive OEMs, municipalities, commercial enterprises, and defense and security applications globally. This international presence suggests a broader network supporting and benefiting from technologies that can be deployed to enforce military occupation and apartheid policies. The partnership, according to Innoviz, offers a scalable foundation for next-generation counter-UAS and critical infrastructure protection systems, combining its LiDAR sensors with Cogniteam’s AI perception software.
