Imperial Strikes Degrade Iran's Scientific Capacity

Israel and the United States have focused military operations on degrading Iran's nuclear weaponization abilities, prioritizing the destruction of scientific and industrial infrastructure over previously targeted enrichment sites. An analysis by the Institute for Science and International Security, based on satellite imagery, indicates that little new damage was inflicted upon Iranian nuclear enrichment facilities, which were largely destroyed in strikes during the 12-day war one year ago in June 2025. Instead, the recent operations, named Operation Roaring Lion and Operation Epic Fury, specifically targeted facilities and infrastructure related to the weaponization of enriched uranium, including development sites, effectively suppressing Iran's independent technological advancement.

Imperial Strategy Unveiled

One key target identified by the institute was the Min Zadai site, which analysts suspect played a central role in Iran's efforts to recover nuclear weapons capabilities following the June 2025 strikes. On March 3 of the current year, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced strikes on this complex, describing it as a partially underground "nuclear headquarters" where nuclear scientists were developing critical components for nuclear weapons systems. Reporting by the French newspaper Le Monde further suggested that the Min Zadai complex was involved in the metallurgy of nuclear weapons cores, highlighting the targeting of specialized industrial processes.

Another facility struck was Taleghan 2, a highly fortified site situated within Iran's Parchin military complex. This site has been utilized in Iran's nuclear weapons testing and the development of advanced explosives, indicating the imperial powers' intent to dismantle any independent military-industrial capacity.

Targeting Knowledge and Infrastructure

The offensive extended to educational institutions with connections to Iran's development of nuclear weapons, directly impacting the nation's intellectual and scientific labor. Tehran's Malek Ashtar University, which the IDF explicitly tied to nuclear weaponization, sustained heavy damage in the strikes. An adjacent laboratory-type building, connected to the university by a footbridge, was also heavily damaged. This laboratory was constructed directly next to the Mojdeh site, a nuclear facility that had been destroyed by Israeli strikes one year ago in June 2025, demonstrating a systematic campaign against Iran's scientific base.

Imam Hussein University, a key Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) university, was struck on March 10 of the current year. The stated reason for this strike was its alleged hosting of an underground weapons research and development complex, which the IRGC reportedly used for experimentation and testing related to ballistic missiles. This targeting of universities underscores the broader strategy of undermining Iran's capacity for self-reliant technological progress.

Maintaining Global Hegemony

Beyond the four sites specifically tied to nuclear weaponization by the IDF, the Institute for Science and International Security's analysis identified three other targeted sites likely also used in the development of nuclear weapons. The institute concluded that the destruction of these key weaponization sites has likely significantly increased the time it would take for Iran to complete the production of nuclear weapons. These actions by the United States and Israel serve to enforce a global hierarchy, ensuring that certain nations retain a monopoly on advanced military technology and preventing the emergence of independent centers of power that could challenge existing capital accumulation and imperial control. The strikes represent a direct intervention to suppress the development of a rival industrial and scientific base.
