Midea Pitches Unified Control for AI Data Centers

Midea Building Technologies presented an integrated power-and-cooling system for AI data centers at Asia Data Centre World 2026 in Singapore. The company pitched one infrastructure stack for managing electricity, storage and heat as computing demands rise. The exhibition ran at Marina Bay Sands from September 29 to 30. The announcement came in a press release, whose issuer alone bears responsibility for its content.

MBT described the system as the industry’s first “power-cooling hyperconverged architecture.” It combines power systems, energy storage, magnetic bearing cooling sources and liquid-cooling computer room distribution units, or CDUs. MBT’s pitch is to coordinate these elements from the earliest stages of construction, bringing power supply, storage, cooling and liquid-cooling distribution together in one system. The infrastructure targets high-density computing, where rising rack power density makes it harder to match electricity supply with cooling capacity.

A unified stack for a growing industry

MBT also released a technical white paper on planning, construction and operation of AI data centers. The company said the paper offers a quantifiable, replicable technical reference for integrating electrical and thermal systems. These systems sit at the center of MBT’s offer: coordinate them, the release says, and operators can rely less on mechanical cooling while pursuing better power usage effectiveness and low-carbon operation.

The full-stack cooling solution connects the cooling source, cooling distribution and heat dissipation at the terminal. MBT said it designed the system to control temperatures under complex climate conditions and resource constraints. The announcement focuses on system performance and data-center operation. It offers no account of workers or nearby communities affected by the infrastructure it promotes.

Products, capacity and corporate partnership

The Magnetic CDU combines a magnetic bearing cooling source with a distribution unit, replacing a separate chiller and passive CDU. MBT said the product can reduce equipment footprint by up to 70%, shorten deployment cycles and support a PUE below 1.2 under suitable operating conditions. Those qualifications matter. The stated PUE depends on suitable conditions, rather than being presented as a universal result.

The Air-Cooled Magnetic Centrifugal Chiller targets hot, water-scarce environments. According to the release, it reduces dependence on cooling water and delivers a coefficient of performance of up to 5.4. The Industrial-Grade CDU, meanwhile, provides 2.6 megawatts of cooling capacity at a 3K temperature difference, with high-availability support for liquid-cooling distribution to large AI clusters and high-density racks.

At the exhibition, MBT highlighted its strategic collaboration with Keppel on green data center infrastructure, spanning design, delivery and operation. The Gui'an Midea Cloud Data Center in China combines MBT hardware with Keppel’s digital platform. The release says the site provides up to 7,654 hours of annual free cooling and maintains a stable PUE below 1.2, presenting it as a model for green data center development in APAC’s expanding AI infrastructure markets.

The company’s own support network

MBT said its support includes what it calls the world’s first fully AI-powered chiller Lighthouse Factory, 193 local service sites across 29 countries and spare-parts centers in 34 countries. The company said it’s prepared to support data centers across Asia Pacific. The release describes visitors at the exhibition hall and discussions among industry customers, partners and technical experts about AI infrastructure upgrades, energy efficiency and liquid cooling.

It reports no grassroots organizing, mutual aid or direct action around these projects. The response it records is commercial and technical discussion. The press release sells an integrated apparatus for powering and cooling AI growth, while the people and places outside that sales frame remain unaddressed.
