Midea Targets AI Data Center Power-Cooling Demand

At Asia Data Centre World 2026 in Singapore, Midea Building Technologies presented integrated power and cooling systems for AI data centers. The company promoted infrastructure that coordinates electricity supply, energy storage and heat removal as computing density rises. Its press release said the products target Asia-Pacific markets and data centers operating in tropical climates with resource constraints.

Infrastructure for AI Computing

At Marina Bay Sands on September 29 and 30, Midea Building Technologies (MBT) presented what its announcement called the industry’s first power-cooling hyperconverged architecture. It brings power systems, energy storage, magnetic bearing cooling sources and liquid-cooling computer room distribution units, or CDUs, together in one infrastructure stack.

The architecture links power supply, energy storage, cooling and liquid-cooling distribution from the early stages of data center construction. MBT also released a technical white paper on the technology pathway for planning, constructing and operating AI data centers. The company said the paper offers a quantifiable and replicable reference for integrating electrical and thermal systems.

The announcement said coordinating power supply and cooling can improve how the two match as rack power density rises. It said the system coordinates magnetic bearing cooling sources, free cooling and liquid-cooling terminals to reduce reliance on mechanical cooling, support improved power usage effectiveness (PUE) and enable low-carbon operation.

MBT described its full-stack cooling solution as a way to connect the cooling source, cooling distribution and terminal heat dissipation. The company said that approach manages temperatures under complex climate conditions and resource constraints. The release named three products in the system.

Products and Performance Claims

The Magnetic CDU combines a magnetic bearing cooling source with a distribution unit, replacing a separate chiller and passive CDU. MBT said it can reduce equipment footprint by up to 70%, shorten deployment cycles and support a PUE below 1.2 under suitable operating conditions.

The Air-Cooled Magnetic Centrifugal Chiller targets hot, water-scarce environments. The company said it reduces dependence on cooling water and delivers a coefficient of performance of up to 5.4. The Industrial-Grade CDU provides 2.6 megawatts of cooling capacity at a 3K temperature difference. It supports liquid-cooling distribution for large AI clusters and high-density racks.

The release connected the products to AI computing infrastructure demands but offered no sales, pricing, revenue or profit figures. It also didn't identify workers affected by deploying the systems or provide labor, staffing or wage figures.

Partnership and Operating Claims

At the exhibition, MBT highlighted its strategic collaboration with Keppel on green data center infrastructure, covering design, delivery and operation. The Gui'an Midea Cloud Data Center in China combines MBT hardware with Keppel’s digital platform. The release said the facility provides up to 7,654 hours of annual free cooling and maintains a stable PUE below 1.2. It described the site as a replicable model for green data center development in APAC’s growing AI infrastructure markets.

MBT said its support includes what it called the world’s first fully AI-powered chiller Lighthouse Factory, 193 local service sites across 29 countries and spare-parts centers in 34 countries. The company said it's prepared to support data centers across Asia Pacific.

The release said visitors crowded the exhibition hall, where discussions covered AI infrastructure upgrades, data center energy-efficiency optimization and liquid-cooling technology. It reported interest from industry customers, partners and technical experts. The announcement didn't describe government action, union involvement, labor organizing or a policy reform proposal.
