Live Nation Opens 4,400-Seat Nashville Venue

The Truth, a 4,400-seat Live Nation venue in Wedgewood Houston, opens its first month of shows in October. Miranda Lambert will perform the first show on Oct. 1. The month’s schedule also features acts at Bridgestone Arena, the Ryman, Ascend Amphitheater and the Grand Ole Opry. Sting and Jack White are on The Truth’s opening-month lineup, along with Lambert’s first performance there.

A New Live Nation Venue

The Truth hosts its first show the day after the article’s publication, Thursday. The 4,400-seat hall sits in Wedgewood Houston and belongs to Live Nation. Lambert’s one-night-only performance on Oct. 1 launches the October schedule and marks the release of her new album, “Crisco,” which drops Friday. A 12-piece string section will join her onstage.

The opening-month lineup reaches beyond The Truth. Phoebe Bridgers will play two nights at Bridgestone Arena, Oct. 10 and 11. Both shows have sold out. Fans attending the phone-free performances will lock their devices inside Yondr pouches.

On Oct. 15, The Chicks will perform at The Truth for a 20th anniversary show celebrating the album “Taking the Long Way.” The album swept the Grammys in 2007. The group plans to play the entire album, then close with hits from the rest of its catalog.

Residencies and Riverfront Shows

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit have booked a six-show residency at the Ryman. They’ll perform Oct. 15–17 and 22–24. A different opening act will take the stage each night.

Live on the Green will hold a “Lawnwarming Party” at Ascend Amphitheater on Oct. 18. The event previews the series’ new riverfront home. Guster and Grace Potter will headline. The full series returns next year.

October brings performances to several Nashville venues: The Truth’s opening month, the Ryman residency and Ascend Amphitheater’s preview. The announced events include sold-out arena shows, anniversary programming, a multi-night residency and a series preview. The announcement identifies The Truth as a Live Nation venue with 4,400 seats, but it doesn’t provide ticket prices, revenue figures, wages, staffing levels or labor-agreement details.

Opry Debut

Sam Smith, a five-time Grammy winner, will perform at the Grand Ole Opry on Oct. 21. It’s their Opry debut. Nashville soul singer Maggie Rose is also on the bill.

Artists will play venues with different formats throughout the month: The Truth’s opening month, Bridgestone Arena’s sold-out two-night run, the Ryman’s six-show residency and Ascend Amphitheater’s preview event. The Opry date adds Smith’s debut to the October calendar. Adam Tamburin wrote the preview.
