Officers responded to the Walmart at 50 McDade Blvd. in Darby Township, Delaware County, shortly after 7 p.m. following reports of shots fired inside the store. The employee, an innocent bystander to the confrontation, was transported to a hospital. Darby Township Police Chief Michael Sousa didn't immediately provide an update on her condition.

"It looked like, from what we're gathering with my detectives, two males get into a verbal altercation at self-checkout," Sousa said. "One of the males brandishes a firearm, fires a round indiscriminately and hits one of the female Walmart employees in the leg — not the subject he was arguing with."
