Saudi Arabia had earlier issued brief warnings to residents in Jizan and Yanbu, anticipating rebel retaliation for previous Saudi defensive actions this week. The Saudi civil defense subsequently issued emergency alerts for Jizan, situated near the Houthi-controlled northern Yemen border, and then for Yanbu, located several hundred miles further north.
The Houthi group asserted that Saudi targeting of civilian facilities in Hodeida and Kamaran island constituted a dangerous escalation. They declared, “We affirm that these recent crimes will not go unanswered.” A Yemeni security source, speaking to AFP, identified a naval base in the port city of Hodeida and a military camp on Kamaran island as among the Saudi targets. Reuters reported that multiple strikes targeted Yemen’s Hodeidah port on Friday, with eyewitnesses in the city reporting no immediate casualties or damage. Riyadh’s actions were described as strikes on Houthi military targets in Hodeida, according to a liveblog. Rebel media reported two individuals wounded after the Yemeni group announced a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia, a top oil producer, and claimed to have hit its ships.

President Trump announced that Prime Minister Netanyahu will visit the United States next week. He also noted that New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani expressed a desire to meet the prime minister. Mamdani had previously stated he was “looking into” his legal authority to arrest Netanyahu as mayor, a clear instance of institutional hostility directed at the leader of a key Western ally. Trump indicated he would “send” Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer “a beautiful Palestinian outfit so he can greet Bibi Netanyahu when he comes to town next week, along with the mayor, who I am sure would like to meet Bibi.” Trump added that “The two leaders are not treating Bibi too well.” He further remarked that Schumer “didn't want to be violating many parts of Palestinian rules and regulations.
