The Town has booked Slipknot and Marilyn Manson for its 2027 edition, and organisers are already defending one of those choices. They announced both acts on 28 September 2026. The bands will share the Skyline main stage on Saturday 4 September 2027 at the Interlagos motor-racing circuit in São Paulo's south zone.
Ticket prices haven't been announced. There's no sale date, vendor, presale information or other performers yet.
The Booking
The festival runs across two weekends: 4, 5 and 6 September, then 11 and 12 September 2027. Slipknot, the masked heavy-metal band from Iowa, will headline Skyline that night, with Marilyn Manson also booked for the stage. Organisers haven't said how many acts they'll add or when they'll announce more names.
Rock World, the private company behind The Town and Rock in Rio, says Slipknot will play only one Brazil show on its 2027 world tour, and that will be its only festival stop. The (sic)est Stadium Tour opens at Wembley Stadium in London on 3 July 2027. South American dates follow in Buenos Aires on 8 September, Santiago on 12 September, Lima on 14 September and Bogotá on 16 September. “Opening The Town announcements with Slipknot as headliner is wonderful,” said Rock World president Roberto Medina.
The deal took work. Zé Ricardo, Rock World's artistic vice-president, said negotiations with the band were difficult, and Jornal de Brasília reported they lasted three months. Drummer Eloy Casagrande is Brazilian and a former member of Sepultura.
The Manson Question
Marilyn Manson is the stage name of Brian Warner. Since 2021, several women, including actress Evan Rachel Wood, have accused him of abuse. He has denied the allegations. In January 2025, Los Angeles prosecutors declined to file criminal charges, citing insufficient evidence and time limits. NME reported that he joins Slipknot as a support act on the South American dates.
The booking drew renewed criticism, Jornal de Brasília reported. Ricardo responded directly. He told O Globo that Manson “has not been convicted” and that the festival “cannot pre-condemn a person without proof,” as Rolling Stone Brasil reported.
What Fans Will Pay, and the Economic Stakes
Ticket prices for 2027 remain unpublished. The 2025 figures give fans a guide. Ticketmaster Brasil sold every ticket without a convenience fee, Billboard Brasil reported. A full-price day ticket cost R$ 975 (about US$187). A half-price ticket cost R$ 487.50 (about US$93). Meia-entrada is a Brazilian legal discount for students, people aged 60 and over, people with disabilities and some other groups, with proof checked at the gate. The dollar figures use R$ 5.2255 to the US dollar, the rate at the close on 28 September 2026.
Getting to the festival costs extra. Interlagos sits far from Avenida Paulista in the centre, and Line 9-Emerald of the CPTM commuter rail network runs near the circuit. In 2025, an express train from Pinheiros station cost R$ 35 (about US$7) return, while an express bus cost R$ 40 (about US$8) return. The walk from the train took about ten minutes. Transport plans for 2027 haven't been published. The official site sets a minimum age of 16; younger children must attend with a parent or legal guardian.
The Town began in 2023 as São Paulo's sister festival to Rock in Rio, which Medina founded in 1985. The first two editions drew about 925,000 people in total, Dicas do Tio Du reported. Estimates for 2025 differ: CNN Brasil put attendance at about 425,000, while Rolling Stone Brasil cited around 500,000. Rolling Stone Brasil also reported R$ 2.2 billion (about US$421 million) in economic activity. The festival takes place every two years.
Why This Matters:
The Town is a privately run event, and its figures show what that can produce: Rolling Stone Brasil reported R$ 2.2 billion in economic activity from the 2025 edition. The Manson row also shows who makes the call. Rock World made a commercial booking and is answering for it publicly, while prosecutors in Los Angeles have already declined to file charges. Ricardo's argument rests on the presumption of innocence, and critics will keep pressing their case. Fans still need practical answers. Ticket prices, the vendor, the legal half-price rules and transport costs of R$ 35 to R$ 40 will shape what a day at Interlagos costs a family. The answers will come from the market, not a mandate.
