The Town has booked Slipknot and Marilyn Manson for the opening night of its 2027 festival in São Paulo. Both are scheduled to play the Skyline main stage on 4 September. The announcement names two acts, but ticket prices, transport arrangements and the rest of the programme remain undecided. The festival is set for 4, 5 and 6 September, then 11 and 12 September, at the Interlagos motor-racing circuit.
The announcement and the unanswered details
Rock World, the company behind The Town and Rock in Rio, announced the bookings on 28 September 2026. Slipknot will headline the Skyline stage, with Marilyn Manson also booked there that night. Organisers haven’t said how many acts will join the lineup or when they’ll announce further names. Tickets aren’t on sale yet, and no vendor, presale details or sale date have been published.
The first block of festival dates ends on 6 September, the day before Brazil’s Independence Day holiday on 7 September. The later block runs on 11 and 12 September. The Town began in 2023 as São Paulo’s sister festival to Rock in Rio, founded by Roberto Medina in 1985. The festival takes place every two years.
Rock World president Roberto Medina said, “Opening The Town announcements with Slipknot as headliner is wonderful.” Zé Ricardo, Rock World’s artistic vice-president, said negotiations with the band were difficult. Jornal de Brasília reported that they lasted three months.
Tour dates, criticism and the booking
Slipknot is a masked heavy-metal band from Iowa in the United States. Its 2027 world tour, the (sic)est Stadium Tour, is scheduled to open at Wembley Stadium in London on 3 July. The South American dates listed in the announcement include São Paulo, Buenos Aires on 8 September, Santiago on 12 September, Lima on 14 September and Bogotá on 16 September. Rock World says the São Paulo festival will be the band’s only Brazil show on the tour and its only festival stop. Brazilian drummer Eloy Casagrande is a member of Slipknot and a former member of Sepultura.
Marilyn Manson is the stage name of Brian Warner, an American shock-rock singer. NME reported that he joins Slipknot as a support act on the South American tour dates. Since 2021, several women, including actress Evan Rachel Wood, have accused him of abuse; he’s denied the allegations. Los Angeles prosecutors declined to file criminal charges in January 2025, citing insufficient evidence and time limits.
The booking renewed criticism, Jornal de Brasília reported. Zé Ricardo told O Globo that Manson “has not been convicted” and that the festival “cannot pre-condemn a person without proof”, as reported by Rolling Stone Brasil.
Prices, attendance and access
The Town hasn’t published 2027 ticket prices or transport plans. For comparison, Ticketmaster Brasil sold all tickets in 2025 with no convenience fee, Billboard Brasil reported. A full-price day ticket cost R$ 975, about US$187, and a half-price ticket cost R$ 487.50, about US$93. Meia-entrada is a legal discount for students, people aged 60 and over, people with disabilities and some other groups; staff check proof at the gate.
Interlagos is in São Paulo’s south zone, far from Avenida Paulista in the centre, and Line 9-Emerald of the CPTM commuter rail network runs near the circuit. For the 2025 festival, an express train from Pinheiros station cost R$ 35 return, while an express bus cost R$ 40 return. The walk from the train took about ten minutes. The official site sets a minimum age of 16; younger children must attend with a parent or legal guardian.
The first two editions drew about 925,000 people in total, Dicas do Tio Du reported. Estimates for 2025 differ: CNN Brasil put attendance at about 425,000, while Rolling Stone Brasil cited around 500,000 and reported R$ 2.2 billion in economic activity. Ticket prices, other performers, stage plans, set times and transport arrangements for 2027 remain unannounced.
