Valparaíso Culture Runs Through Ticket Gates

Valparaíso’s October arts calendar lists 14 events from Friday, Oct. 16, to Saturday, Oct. 31, with access shaped by registration forms, venue ticket pages and admission prices of up to CLP 15,000, about US$15. The guide includes free-entry listings, paid performances and museum exhibitions. Culture is on offer; getting in depends on the terms attached to each door.

Who Gets Through the Door

The sixth edition of PERFORMA, the International Media Arts Festival, opens Friday, Oct. 16, at 20:00 at Mercado Puerto, Cochrane 117. Admission is free, but visitors must register in advance on Ticketplus. The festival presents five immersive audiovisual works that combine art, science and technology. One uses AI to explore political and urban memory; another joins European baroque with Mapuche instruments in a sound performance.

On Saturday, Oct. 17, Espacio Lola presents contemporary flamenco at 19:30 in Salón Almirante Montt, Destino Valparaíso, Concepción 499, Cerro Concepción. The guide lists no price. Camila Moreno performs “La Última Luz” at 20:00 at Teatro Mauri SCD, Avenida Alemania 6985, Cerro Bellavista. Tickets cost CLP 8,000 to 12,000, about US$8 to US$12, through the venue’s ticketing page.

Paid shows continue Friday, Oct. 23, when “Full y la música de Fulano,” described by the venue calendar as a theatre-and-music performance, takes the Teatro Mauri stage at 20:00. Tickets cost CLP 10,000 to 15,000, about US$10 to US$15. The guide says visitors should check the venue’s ticketing page for details about the format. On Friday, Oct. 30, Daniel Muñoz leads Daniel Muñoz y Los Marujos: También es Cueca at the same theatre. Tickets are available through its ticketing page. The performance features cueca and repertoire from his 2026 national tour.

Institutions Set the Terms

The Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez chamber music cycle brings flautist Felipe Egaña and guest musicians to Salón Concepción, Destino Valparaíso, on Thursday, Oct. 22, at 18:00. “Ciclo de Música de Cámara UAI: flute from the Renaissance to Romanticism” follows the flute’s history across several centuries. The listing gives no price.

Fiesta de la Música Chilena begins Saturday, Oct. 24, at 12:00 in Barrio Puerto. Organizers describe two stages, fairs, activations and family programming at several locations near the waterfront, accessible on foot. The listing gives no price. Carrito del Grabado, an interactive engraving workshop led by mediators from the Universidad de Playa Ancha, runs Oct. 24 and 25, from 10:00 to 18:00 at Plaza Central, Destino Valparaíso. No price is listed.

The regional tourism corporation of the Valparaíso Region organizes Expo Quillota 2026, which runs Thursday, Oct. 29, through Saturday, Oct. 31, in Quillota, outside Valparaíso city. The 26th edition brings together entrepreneurs, artisans, food producers and institutions from the region. The guide lists no admission price.

The City on Display

Three exhibitions extend the calendar beyond performances. “Pacheco Altamirano: Redescubrir a un maestro,” presented by the APA Collection and Museo Baburizza, runs through Sunday, Oct. 25, from 10:00 to 18:00 at the museum in Cerro Alegre. General admission costs CLP 4,000, about US$4. Students and seniors pay CLP 1,500, about US$1.50, while children under 12 enter free.

“A través del espejo” presents 18 acrylic paintings by self-taught Valparaíso artist Ervin Echeverría Iturra at Museo de Historia Natural de Valparaíso, Condell 1546. The exhibition runs through Saturday, Oct. 31, from 11:00 to 16:00. Its paintings mix surrealism with references to Valparaíso, Greece, Venice and Japan. The XIII Bienal Internacional de Artes de Valparaíso opens Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Museo Baburizza and runs through Dec. 27, from 10:00 to 18:00. It presents the biennial’s winning works on the theme of the right to the city; admission follows the museum tariff.

The guide describes no direct-action campaign, mutual-aid effort or community-run alternative to ticketed and institution-hosted events. It recommends checking Turismo Valparaíso, Valpocultura and the Destino Valparaíso programme for updates, and says many listings don’t include prices. Its conversions use about 980 pesos to the U.S. dollar, based on The Rio Times’ Oct. 15, 2026, rate. The Rio Times’ automated newsroom system produced the article, which lists Matthias Camenzind as Editor-in-Chief.
