These operations, involving fighter jets, aerial drones, and warships, targeted dozens of Iranian military sites. CENTCOM listed coastal surveillance and air defense sites, military logistics infrastructure, and maritime capabilities among the targets. The command asserted its actions were degrading Iranian military capabilities and holding Iran accountable for recent attacks on commercial shipping. More than 50,000 US service members remain stationed in the Middle East, according to CENTCOM, which described them as "vigilant, lethal, and ready."
Infrastructure Destruction and Civilian Impact
Iran's state news agency Mehr reported early Friday morning that three explosions were heard in Chabahar, located in southeastern Iran. The semi-official Tasnim News Agency detailed an American attack on the Iranshahr airport earlier on Thursday, where Iranian armed forces are stationed, noting three strong explosions around the facility. IRNA specifically reported the deaths in Bandar Khamir, citing information from the Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences. The report also confirmed US airstrikes hit bridges in Hormozgan province overnight into Friday, including those in the Bandar Khamir area on the Strait of Hormuz.
The Kehvarstan bridge, which spans the Shur River in southern Iran, was among the critical infrastructure hit. Tasnim News Agency identified it as a key transportation route. Following the attack, traffic on the Bandar Abbas-Kehvarstan-Lar route has been suspended, disrupting vital movement in the region. Tasnim also denied reports of explosions in the Iranian city of Zahedan, stating that on-site investigations in "key locations in the city" showed these reports were untrue.
